If your Windows is now activated with that key, that is great news and rest assured it will update automatically.
Win 10 Pro Activation issues. Errorcode 0XC004C008
I made a fresh installation of Windows 10 Pro Retail 22H2 on my new computer. (used mobo and cpu and the rest is new)
At installation I entered a Retail key I bought online through a Windows Partner connected company. I want to believe its legit.
Anyway I get this message about Activation failed and that I need to Activate my Windows.
I have tried to reenter the key I bought in Settings. I get errorcode 0XC004C008. Key is already in used on another computer.
I contacted company about the issue. Got a new key and still the same errorcode.
When I look into regedit Local Machine etc and BackupProductKeyDefault I have a completely different key?
When Im doing admin CMD and try to remove the key with slmgr /upk N6HM8-VYWXY-PK8V2-R8DV8-HMH26 I get a message: Error, key cannot be found.
I have tried to manually type in the slmgr /ipk (new key)
message: new key installed
followed by a slmgr /ato
message: Activation server repsonded that they key cant be activated
Tried through powershell. Doesnt help.
Tried admin CMD: wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey - responding with a OA3xOriginalProductKey and then nothing more.
Tried clearing out the key from BackupProductKeyDefault and entered my new one.
But it is returning back to the N6HM8-VYWXY-PK8V2-R8DV8-HMH26 key every time.
How can I solve this issue?

2023-12-11T19:47:35+00:00 The Showkeyplus app shows both the keys I entered correctly.
I had my doubts and I have now bought another key (Windows 10 Pro Retail).
It now works with activation.
Its still shows the key I mentioned first in regedit. Should it update automatically?
Thank you for your help.

That product key you have indicated is a generic key that cannot be used to activate Windows.
2
It is very strange a company would be willing to give you a new key to activate Windows, since keys are very expensive.
Download the widely available free ShowKeyPlus app from the Microsoft Store, enter each of your product keys into that app, what type of Windows licence does each key indicate?
