Optimizing Battery Performance When Using KVM Switch with External Monitor

I am currently utilizing a KVM switch to connect two laptops to a single external monitor. However, I encounter issues when toggling between laptops, especially when one laptop's lid is closed. To address this, I've adjusted the lid settings to prevent the laptop from entering sleep mode when the lid is closed. My concern is the impact of this setting on battery life. Additionally, I've observed increased battery consumption while using the external monitor. Since the power supply for the monitor is independent of the laptop battery, I'm curious about the overall effect on battery performance. How significant is the impact, especially when the laptop screen is not in use?

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

When you indicate you want to find the impact on battery with this setup, is that the actual lifespan of the battery or the length of time you get from a charge on the laptops?
