Forgotten PIN

Question

Hi, I have a HP laptop windows 10. I forgot my PIN and I can’t get in my laptop. I have the security email but there is no option of “I forgot my password” and “sign in options” on the screen. I’ve tried wrong PIN several times and I don’t want to risk it lock. Please can anyone help me??

Please open the Windows Recovery environment using either of the steps below:

On the Lock Screen, Press and hold the Shift key. Then, click the restart button on the lock screen located at the bottom right situated in the Power menu, to open the Windows Recovery options.

If you cannot reach the Lock screen or start your computer, restart your PC two times when the boot screen is shown. If your PC has no restart button, press and hold the Power button until the computer shuts down. Do this twice.

On the third time, windows should open Windows Recovery options automatically.

In the Windows Recovery menu,

Select the Troubleshoot option.

Then, select Advanced Options.

Click Startup Settings as the next step.

Click the Restart button.

Click five or F5 to Start the computer in Safe Mode with Networking.

I’ve tried guessing several times but no luck. I don’t want to risk it as I think it might get locked permanently.

I am not aware of safe mode.

Is there any way I can reset the pin via help of my recovery safety email or my outlook account?

This is odd, kind of. You can try to guess the PIN, it is not an issue.

Did you try Safe Mode?

Hi sumit,

I have only my outllook account linked to my laptop.

I’m not sure if you understand the issue. I’ve forgotten the PIN we enter when we turn on our laptop. Previously there was option to forgot password but then the recovery phone number provided was no longer in use. So i changed the security email and waited 30 days. Now after 30 days, when I tried to reset the password it says too much wrong attempts and there is no option of forgot password and sign in options. I’m afraid to put in any guess pin. I’m afraid it will lock and all my data inside would be locked as well.

Any help?
