External drive causing problems

Im using windows 11, with an external harddrive, serato dj and a numark controller, i store all my music on the external drive, i use i tunes for librarys, the external harddrive keeps sycing or checking the library to back it up, which causes the serato programme to freeze or lose the song thats playing, how can i stop this please

    When i try to disable the sync, nothing happens, it is not highlighted, so i cant click on it, unless you can tell me another way of disabling it please

    I have tried connecting it once laptop is running, but it made no difference, it just had same issue, the drive needs remaining in place all the time while serato or i tunes is on, as thats where all the music is stored, its the constant backing up/ checking library thats the problem, can i stop it backing up while serato in use ???

    A usb drive?

    These are not deisigned to remain connected i any start up or shutdown, doing so risks file corruption.

    The device should be disconnected at shutdown, and only reconnected once the PC has fully booted
