black screen reboot

I recently did an upgrade to the following

RX7800XT

MSI B550 Gaming Plus

Ryzen 7 5800x

However, I kept getting heating shutdowns (and yes I removed the plastic and redid the paste), mixed with just general black screen reboots.

As a result I undervolted the cpu, which solved the heating. However, the random black screen reboots remains. Usually when gaming, but not always.

The logs always indicate the same

From what ive gathered, most people solve it by getting a new cpu...however im not in the position to send it back and wait 3-4 weeks for them to decide whether to refund or repair it. So hopingther are other solutions

So apologies for the delay. Friend came around and fiddled with the settings as described in the first link, and while it seems kept the temperatures stable, the crashes still remained (although less frequent). The error message is still the same. (the moments it crashed werent during intensive games either...)

As mentioned, I did contact the reseller before and as I'm not in the position to dismantle the pc, send the cpu back and wait 3-4 weeks (or longer with the holidays). I therefore went fill nuclear and decided to buy a new prebuild/assembled pc from another retailer(with black friday promo), and scrap the current ones for parts to sell them on.

Ive kinda made my peace with it that I will make a loss now, but the peace of mind that now a company is responsible and if anything would be wrong I can go to them makes it a better option.

Already I can sell the GFX card to a friend, and when I dismantle the pc and send the cpu back, with a bit of luck I will have a brand new one to resell.

Thank you for your efforts though

Your power supply should be good enough for your computer, so no worries on that front.

It'd be awesome if you could keep us in the loop about what your friend was able to pull off and whether things got sorted. This could really benefit others dealing with a similar problem. Thanks a bunch!

Hello, thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I am here to help and provide assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.

What PSU do you have installed on your system?

You can find additional information on the following thread: https://community.amd.com/t5/processors/almost-...

At the end, there is another thread I found where it details a similar issue and as you mentioned, replacing the hardware worked(hopefully if you are under warranty): https://community.amd.com/t5/general-discussion...
