MSI webcam not detected

I have an MSI laptop. After a recent update, my webcam is no longer detected.

I checked the settings, and access to the webcam is enabled.

Pressing F6 doesn't change anything, it only briefly flashes a symbol which looks to me like a locked camera?

I can't find the device in the system menu, so can't check the driver.

What can I do to get the webcam working again?

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1

If the F6 key is not working, try pressing Fn + F6.

    2

Some MSI laptops nave an app installed that may be blocking the webcam, click your Start Button, then just type SCM, do you see the SCM app in the resulting list?

If you do, open that and check if the webcam is turned on in that app.

    3

If what was not the problem, go to the support page for your laptop on the MSI website to download and re-install the version of webcam drivers they provide.

    Maybe this is relevent

By default, win 11 update auto updates only critical win updates, and nothing else unless you have made the mistake of selecting the "Get latest updates" option, and if you have turn it off.

You obtain both Bios & Drivers updates from the PC Maker, there should be a shortcut on your system to that makers update utility, and no other source.

    Laptop model?

Is the driver installed on the touchpad, is the camera displayed in the device manager?
