My Laptop microphone does not function, and cannot be detected by troubleshooter, in spite of all drivers seeming to be installed and no other diagnostics pointing to software or hardware errors.

Laptop description:

Model: Swift SFX14-41G
OS: Windows 11 Home

Version: 22H2

Build: 22621.2506

Description: The built-in microphone array is not picking up audio, despite (nominally) being active and not reporting any issues.

* It is visible as enabled as the Default Recording Device in Sound
* Its drivers are enabled in the Device Manager, and report no issues

* Exclusive Mode is disabled

When I run the troubleshooter (Control Panel>Find and fix problems with recording sound), however, I am told:

Troubleshooting was unable to automatically fix all of the issues found. You can find more details below.

* Audio services not responding - Not Fixed

Further, when I try to run the "Control Panel>Speech Recognition>Set Up Microphone" wizard, I get a dialog window stating:

"The Wizard could not start. Make sure your audio hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the Audio Devices and Sound Themes control panel."

Please advise.

Hi, I am an Independent Advisor.

Please let me help you with this concern.

I understand that you are having issues with your internal mic.

And since you have run the troubleshooter, follow the steps below to get it fixed.

Here are the steps to completely remove a Device from your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Windows key+ X.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound, Video, and Game Controllers Right-click the problematic device it is either Realtek Audio, or AMD High-definition Audio or High-Definition Audio this varies on the audio device installed in your PC, and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device and then click the Uninstall button.

Step 5. Do it on all the Audio drivers found under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Remove all then once everything is removed, click on the magnifying glass at the top, that is the scan for hardware changes option, wait until everything gets installed, then restart the PC.

After the reboot, please see if the problem is fixed.

If that still does not work, please visit the support website of your laptop or desktop and then download and install the latest Audio driver then restart the PC.
