File explorer crashing when refreshing - hang code 134217728

Recently, file explorer has started crashing whenever I do some actions from the context menu (e.g. refresh) and the desktop icons do not show on startup for around 3 minutes. I have done many checks including chkdsk, DISM and SFC, but the problem persists. I believe File Explorer is getting stuck in some sort of loop when doing some actions, but I am not really sure. Here are some screenshots of the problem:

Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi,

My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

Yes, this means some third-party app interferes with Explorer.

Please try clean boot too. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...

Use third-party ShellExView program to turn off all non-Microsoft extensions and see if this helps.

    Hi,

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Let's try to isolate the cause of the issue.

    1. Perform Clean Boot. If the issue doesn't persist in the clean boot it means the issue might be caused by a non-Microsoft program. Refer to this link.
      https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135...
    2. Start PC in Safe Mode. If the issue doesn't persist in the Safe Mode it means the issue might be caused by a non-Microsoft driver.
      To start in Safe Mode.
      >> Press the Windows logo key + R.
      >> Type msconfig in the Open box and then select OK.
      >> Select the Boot tab.
      >> Under Boot options, click the Safe boot checkbox.
      >> Apply and restart PC.

    Let me know the result.
    Thanks.

    Hello Paul,

File explorer stops crashing in Safe Mode and works properly. Does this mean a third-party app is causing this?
