Windows 10 update Issue

Today, I thought I selected Sleep and left. When I came back, the computer was running and froze with the BIOS startup shown on the monitor. I did a warm boot and the computer booted and then displayed, "We couldn't complete the update Undoing changes Don't turn off your computer" then the message said, "Getting ready to retry" then "Undoing changes" "Restarting" and then it displayed the same text as above ("We couldn't complete the update Undoing changes Don't turn off your computer") then "Cleaning up" and then 100% complete. The computer then rebooted into Windows finally okay.

I was concerned for a while that my computer may not be usable and then how would I fix it? It's difficult now to get Microsoft to help, even with their own OS!

In the Windows Update window, it says Optional quality update available." and the orange triangle mark and it says, "We couldn't install this update but you can try again (0X80070005). 2023-10 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5031445)." So, the problem was the optional update couldn't be installed. It's still strange that when I cam e back as mentioned above that the BIOS boot message was on the screen and I had to reboot the computer.

Is these a known issue with the update?

There has been no response yet. I would like to delete the incomplete file and save a zipped file to the same location and make a link to share the complete log files.

It is very strange that I cannot find a way to delete the file I shared before sharing the complete CBS logs! How can I delete it?

The log starts from 2023-11-08 19:23:52

It's not enough. Please share all the logs from the CBS folder.

    Or, install the update offline.

    2023-10 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5031445) windows10.0-kb5031445-x64_418ef5fcb1d37c436c0f455324424d23b1cd3c83.msu

If it fails, share all the CBS logs.

Did you uninstall the Microsoft Edge browser, perchance? That causes the LCU to fail. Reinstalling Edge fixes the issue.

If that doesn't help, please upload your CBS logs to OneDrive and share the link here.

    • c:\windows\logs\cbs\                   <= Zip and upload all files in this folder.

I haven't uninstalled Microsoft Edge. Thanks for including How to share info as I don't do this very often. It took some work to do as you requested concerning sharing the cbs log file but finally have the link that will hopefully work which is: https://carpenterw-my.sharepoint.com/:u:/g/personal/wayne_rocky77_com/EdU-7xLzM41CrCyKN8MRetIB48EfL_uEiFAXVhHd3yOrHA?e=gxYDic
