Hello:

1- I have Laptop PC (64-bit) with Windows 11 home (upgraded from Windows 10 Home sometimes ago)

2- Just very recently on 10/27/2023 ran the Windows Update and updated the Windows 11 on this Laptop.

3- After the update I restarted the Laptop after which Widows "Sign in" showed up, then when clicking on this "Sign in", after a while

(which looked like searching), the following message came up :

**"You'll need the Internet for this. It doesn't look like you are connected to the Internet, check your connection** **and try again"**

**(**I didn't get any prompt for password or login information, just the above message)

I checked the Internet connection by connecting it to another Laptop, there is Internet and it works.

I tried this Step 3 several times, the same thing happened.

4- I tried "Safe Mode with Network" (In Troubleshoot>Advanced Option>Startup Settings). Here "Sign in" shows up again but when

clicking on it, after a short while, it comes back to **"Sign in"** and nothing happens (get no messages either).

greatly appreciate your suggestions and help,

DN

    This didn't work either.

1- At the cmd prompt typed "net user administrator /active:yes" and then hit the Return.

    It said command executed successfully.

    2-Type "Exit" at the prompt.

3-"Sign in" screen came up with only one "Sign in" option, there was no "Administrator Sign in " option showing up.

4-Clicking on the only Sign-in gave the same message as before : "This needs Internet Connection, check your Internet Connection and try again"

In this case, you can try to enable the built-in Administrator account and make sure your Wi-Fi/Ethernet driver is updated.

1-Restart your computer while holding the SHIFT button

2-The Advanced Startup menu will open on the boot.

    3-Go to Troubleshoot.

4-Now, go to Advanced Options > Command Prompt

5-Type this command and press enter:

    net user administrator /active:yes

6-Close the command prompt then click to return to the first screen and click on Continue do normal boot

When you reach the sign-in screen, you should be able to see both options, your user account and the Administrator account, select the Administrator account and try to sign in on Windows.

Once you are logged in with the Administrator account, go to your laptop manufacturer's website and make sure you have all drivers updated. When finished, sign out the Administrator account and try to sign in using your user account.

    Hi:

Tried both your suggested Option 1 and Option 2, they didn't work.

At Windows "Sign in" still says "This needs Internet Connection, Check your Internet Connection and try again"

Thanks for your clearly stated steps and suggestions.

1- After upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 I've been able to update to the previous available updates with no problem, If

there were drivers issues, shouldn't they haves caused problem then too?

2- If I remember correctly, Under Uninstall Updates there are two choices:

     a- Uninstall Quality Update

     b- Uninstall Feature Update

You indicated, in Option 2, to select Uninstall Quality Update.

What about (b) Uninstall Feature? I am not sure what was the nature of the available Update for which I updated , I didn't pay

much attention, just clicked to update.

3-Of your recommended Options which one you think is preferable?

    Option 1: Restore System

                    or

    Option 2: Uninstall recent update

Doesn't the Restore System (Option 1) also remove the installed Update?

    thanks,

    DN

    Hi, DN,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

It could be a problem with updates that weren't finished correctly or a problem with your network driver that is outdated and not compatible with Windows 11. In this case, the best option restore your computer to a previous point before the update.

    Option 1: System Restore

1-Restart your computer while holding the SHIFT button

2-The Advanced Startup menu will open on the boot.

    3-Go to Troubleshoot.

4-Now, go to Advanced Options > System restore

5-Select a restore point and click on next to restore

Option 2: Uninstall the recent updates installed

1-Restart your computer while holding the SHIFT button

2-The Advanced Startup menu will open on the boot.

    3-Go to Troubleshoot.

4-Now, go to Advanced Options > Uninstall Updates

5-Click on Uninstall the latest quality update and then click Uninstall quality update on the next screen.

When finished, go to your laptop manufacturer's website and make sure all your drivers are updated before updating to Windows 11 again.

If you cannot find the correct drivers for your laptop, provide the full model of your laptop and screenshot of the system information and I'll be glad to help you find the correct driver.

1-Right-click on Start then click on Run

2-Type: msinfo32 and click on OK

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.
