Display Adapter Empty.

Have been experiencing a tonne of trouble over a year (page slipping down screen until taskbar appears at top; Word unresponsive; monitor going into frequent Auto Detect). Went to a few sites for help, but nothing has worked.

One site today suggested I go to the Display adapters for a fix, but I was unable to follow the suggested steps because my card showed empty.

I am a leper at this sort of thing, so any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Also, a computer shop said I needed a new monitor because my refresh rate was 59.883 Hz when it should be 60. Is that a real concern, or just a way to make a sale?

The GT720 is no loner supported in Windows 10 so I'm not sure if that may be an issue. Nvidia have the latest driver as a security update version 474.64 while newer card drivers are version 546.17.

The Control Panel should be available from the Windows 10 Store but mine stopped working some time ago. (I have a GT710)

Is your monitor a desktop monitor and if so can you select the setup buttons on the monitor and set it to a default.

I suppose it could be the graphics pushes 60Hz when the monitor cannot achieve it. Has this happened recently. Are you using HDMI or a normal video cable between the PC and monitor?

Thanks neilpzz. Followed your step and found NVIDIA GeForce GT 720. I feel like a dope because previous advice was to right click on Display Adapters and open properties - which produced the OP empty screen shot. 'General' tab says the device is working properly, whereas other advice says I should uninstall, then reinstall the device. Is that correct please?

I am also recently receiving a message on bottom right of screen to install NVIDIA Panel Control - is that necessary, thanks?

Further, please, does my refresh rate being out of sync (monitor refresh rate 59.883 Hz when it should be 60) create the following issue of page slipping? This is frustrating because you need to drop the cursor off the bottom to access the taskbar which appears at the top - this can only be done when the page slips enough so that all icons on bar can be seen, otherwise you are guessing where the icons are located.

Much appreciate your time and advice.

What do you see if you expand the Display adaptor by selecting the >. Does it display the adapter in use, from there select Properties.
