My default Mic setting keeps changing when I turn on my computer in the Xbox (Windows button + G) window.

I have 3 mics hooked up to my computer. A VR headset, a boom mic, and my wireless headset (I turn on after I turn on my pc). The XBox window's (window button + G) default mic keeps switching to my VR headset where as my pc keeps it to my wireless nonVRheadset. Mind you it'll keep it like that a few times I turn on my computer, but I could be in the middle of something I'd lose all my progress and time before I realize that I can't communicate to anyone with out grabbing the VR headset or fixing the settings and having to close the game and restart it.

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your microphone settings in the Xbox Game Bar on Windows. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this:

    1. Set Default Microphone in Windows Settings: Go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Sound'. Under the 'Input' section, use the drop-down menu to select your preferred microphone as the default device.
    2. Disable Other Microphones: You could also try disabling the microphones you don't want to use. To do this, right-click on the sound icon in your taskbar and choose 'Open Sound settings'. Then click on 'Sound Control Panel', go to the 'Recording' tab, right-click on the microphone you want to disable, and choose 'Disable'.
    3. Xbox Game Bar Settings: Open Xbox Game Bar (Windows Key + G), go into settings (the gear icon), then look for an audio section where you can set your preferred input device.
    4. Update Audio Drivers: Outdated or corrupt drivers could cause issues with audio devices. You can update these drivers through Device Manager: find your audio devices under "Audio inputs and outputs", right-click them and select "Update driver".
    5. Set Default Communication Device: In some cases, setting a default communication device separately from a default device helps:
      • Right-click on speaker icon at bottom-right of screen.
      • Select Sounds.
      • Go to Recording tab.
      • Right-click on your desired mic > Set as Default Communication Device.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

    Best regards
