Windows reset option missing in Advanced Bootup.

I was restoring my HP laptop using system restore. It then got stuck on "restoring registry key" for hours and in the hp forum the employee told to press and hold power button for 10 seconds. And I did it and it started automatic repair. It then showed automatic repair failed. And I am ready to completely restore my laptop. When I turn on it says automatic repair failed and gives 2 options- to turn off PC and troubleshoot. But in trouble shoot there is no reset this PC option.

So now Is it alright if I create a windows installation tool(windows 10) in USB and can I use that as a recovery method to fix the corrupted system files. I am pretty new to this. Or can I only use it to install a new windows 10 software? I don't know the product key of my windows 10 laptop. I threw the box away and don't know the product key. If I knew I could activate windows using it. It was a windows 10 pro product key so I don't know how to get windows 10 back without spending money on new win 10 pro as money is pretty tight.

    Thank you for replying Emily.

I booted from USB and clicked custom install. the setup is now asking to select the driver to install. when I clicked on browse it shows "boot(X:)" and "ESD-USB(C:)". I already have a 512gb ssd on my laptop and I don't know why it isn't recognizing it. what is the driver I should select and what are the boot(x:) and ESD-USB(c:). which one should I click to install windows on my laptop. I don't want windows to install win 10 on my usb

    Hello, this is Emily.

It sounds like the reset image is corrupted or missing.. hence no reset option.

Yes, you can absolutely do a clean install using the installation flash drive. If Windows came with your HP device, you don't have to worry about license. It is OEM license and it can be picked up automatically during the installation proces. It usually won't even prompt you for license key.

To perform a clean installation of Windows 10 using the Windows Media Creation Tool:

The following steps should be done on a working Windows computer:

Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Run the tool and select "Create installation media for another PC."

Choose your language, edition, and architecture (32 or 64-bit) and select "Next."

Choose "USB flash drive" as the media to use for the installation and select "Next."

Connect a USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space to your computer.

Select the USB flash drive you want to use, and then select "Next."

The tool will then download the required files and create the installation media.

    =====================================================

Now these steps will  be done on your problematic computer:

Go to the computer's BIOS boot menu to have it boot from the USB drive.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 10, making sure to choose "Custom install" and select the option to delete all existing partitions.

Once the installation is complete, you'll have a clean installation of Windows 10 on your computer.
