I use a work laptop without admin, and when I try to get updates, it just gives me the error code 0xc8000444. I know how to fix it, I just don't have admin and can't ask the admin for help.

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Windows update

Hi, I'm Elise, a fellow user like yourself and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

If you are getting this error on a work laptop then it is likely it is configured to retrieve updates from your organisations update server, rather than Windows update.

Unfortunately without admin access to the PC there isn't anyway possible to resolve this, you would need to have your company IT department resolve the issue.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind Regards,

Elise
