Windows Explorer High CPU and Memory Usage

Hello,

I'm encountering a persistent problem with Windows Explorer where it exhibits high CPU and memory usage whenever I attempt to open a folder with a size exceeding 30 GB. Despite my best efforts, I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps, including disk cleanup, disk defragmentation, index rebuilding, sfc scan, removing icons with no image, disabling specific services, making adjustments to Windows Management Instrumentation, conducting malware scans, running maintenance troubleshoot, deleting temporary files, ensuring Windows updates are current, and even utilizing the chkdsk command. Regrettably, none of these measures have resolved the issue.

I kindly request your assistance and insights to help me find a solution to this Windows Explorer problem, as it significantly impairs my system's performance. Your expertise would be greatly appreciated in addressing this issue.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards,

Hello, thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I am here to help and provide assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.

The behavior you're describing isn't typical. I would expect a minor delay when opening the folder, but a significant slowdown of your entire system shouldn't occur.

Is this issue specific to this particular folder, or does it occur with other types of files as well?

Could you please provide information about your system? Is it a desktop or laptop? If possible, share the specifications or model number.
