Hi I am trying to connect external to my laptop as the built in sound card has gotten so quiet over the windows versions its shocking so have to have external speakers so I can actually hear things on my laptop. When i connect to my laptop the speaker only shows up as a mic and not an actual speaker or audio device so cannot use it as external speaker only a mic which i don't need.

How do I get it to connect as an audio device instead of just a mic ?

I am using Windows 11 Home

Thank you but I did all that to no avail but I fixed it now, apparently windows will recognize all Bluetooth speakers as microphones instead of headphones they only work if you change the audio out to headphones apparently instead of just audio. I think it's something to do with your laptop having a built-in headphone jack, the inbuilt headphone jack needs switching to the Bluetooth speaker and it will work, I don't know why windows does this or even why Microsoft has done it like this but it should just be recognized as an audio device, then if Microsoft would just making the audio drivers and leave them down to the chip manufacturers so the inbuilt speakers would be louder it would be a lot better.Thank you but I did all that to no avail but I fixed it now, apparently windows will recognize all Bluetooth speakers as microphones instead of headphones they only work if you change the audio out to headphones apparently instead of just audio. Good day!

I'm Christine, a Windows user like you. I can see here that your external speaker is being recognized as Microphone. No worries, I'll do my best to help you.

May I know when did the issue start? Is there any changes made?

Please send the make and model of your computer. (Please press Windows key + R and type msinfo32 and hit enter, look for system model)

May I know what is the make and model of your speaker?

Have you checked if the speaker is working on other device?

Please check and follow the steps below:

    1. Update Windows

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/upd...

    1. Run the Audio troubleshooter

Click on the Start menu and type Troubleshoot and then press enter

Find the Audio option and then run it

    Check if the problem persists.

    1. Please shutdown your both of your device.

Wait for at leasy 5minutes before turning it on and try to reconnect it via bluetooth.

Please let me know the result. I'll be happy to assist you all the way until it's resolved.

    Thank you,

    Christine L
