Sharepoint 2010 edit item missing.....

Question

Hi Everyone, In SharePoint 2010 why i am not able to see edit item option after clicking view properties from ribbon ? its missing ?

Below image i took from internet , that option missing in my SharePoint 2010

Whether this issue occurs in the other lists or libraries ? Whether other users have this issue? Is there anything has been changed before the issue occurs?

Normally edit item button may grayed out but not missing. You can contact your SharePoint administrator whether they hide this button to users with PowerShell or some other ways?

And you can try to use some other browser. Try to reset Internet Explorer setting if you are using IE.

If "Edit Item" is just grayed out and not missing completely, then there could be several things causing it. If it is completely missing, I've really only seen that with custom code in which case, as Casey said, you'd need to reach out to your SharePoint administrator or whomever manages that content.

• Browser (try IE if you are running a different browser, as it is more SharePoint friendly)
• The account viewing the properties does not have permissions to edit the document
• The library requires that a document be checked out before it can be edited
• The item is checked out by someone other than the account that is viewing that information panel (if this is the case, the previous checkout would have to be checked in or discarded before you could proceed)
