I am on Windows 11 and trying to read a screen via Magnifier Reader option. If I hit PLAY, it does fine and begins and continues to read until I tell it to stop (Reading Shortcut+Enter) and resume (Reading Shortcut+enter). I can listen to the entire article successfully.
BUT, if I decided to have it start at a specific point via Reading-Shortcut+left-mouse-click, it reads only for ONE line or until it hits a hypertext, change of font, bullet, etc.! If I try to resume from there, it beings at top of screen again. Is this a known bug? I already ran SFC/SCANNOW with no errors. Is there a way to update/refresh Magnify.exe in System32?
Am I expecting it to do something it is not designed to do? i.e., Start at a specific point using Reading-Shortcut+Left-mouse-click and resume after pausing? And, wanting it to read just like it can via PLAY continuously through text without hangin on fint changes, hypertext, bullets, etc.?

Hi
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Derrick,
Thank you for confirming what I thought. It seems Narrator is similar. I have located two other third party products that work and provide limited use for free. Will just move on.
Hi
Welcome to Microsoft community.
The behavior you're describing with the Magnifier Reader function in Windows 11 is not a error but rather how the feature is designed to work. When you start reading at a specific point using the Reading Shortcut + Left-mouse-click, the Magnifier Reader reads only the immediate content around that point, usually stopping at formatting changes, hypertext, bullets, etc., similar to how screen readers for accessibility behave.
Unfortunately, there isn't a way to update or refresh the Magnify.exe in System32 to change this behavior. The Magnifier Reader function is a built-in feature of Windows, and its capabilities are determined by the design choices made by Microsoft.
If your goal is to have a continuous reading experience without stopping at formatting changes or hypertext, you might want to consider using a dedicated screen reader software instead of the Magnifier Reader. Some third-party readers are designed to provide a seamless reading experience with customizable settings for various content types.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.
Best regards
