Hi,

I have two Questions related to Azure Update Management which is enabled in Azure Automation Account for my Azure VMs

  1. When i enable Azure update management will it install the missing updates and reboot the server even if i have not enabled and configured Scheduling in update management, my requirement is to know the missing updates from update management i dont want updates to be installed by update management when ever needed and required i can install the updates manually by going to the Server on required time.
  2. I have 500 Servers in total in around 13 multiple subscriptions but i have few log analytics and azure automation account connected to those log analytics workspace, I want to create log analytics workspace and azure automation account in each subscription and connect that subscriptions VM to its won subscription log analytics workspace, i know how to do it but my question is since VMs will be connected to new log analytics workspace will update management automatically be connected to new azure automation account as soon as the log analytics workspace id is changed or do i have do something different from update management perspective

Thank you

@Salahuddin Khatri Thanks for reaching out.

    1. Unless you schedule in update management, the updates will not be installed on the machines connected to Update Management.
    2. As per my understanding of Update Management, if you connect your VM's to new log analytics workspace it doesn't connect to azure account account automatically. You need to link log analytics and automation account and then enable update management and the add azure vm's to the update management.
