Error attempting to install .NET 6.0 Desktop Runtime (v6.0.20)

Question

During the installation process I get the attached error:

Retry does nothing, Cancelling the Error causes it to reappear several times during the installation which eventually will fail:

I have already run this as Administrator and checked the Security on the Directory referred to by the Error. I have turned off all Security/Protection Software, basically the usual things when file permissions are an issue and nothing has worked or made any difference whatsoever. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Please open the folder "C:\programdata\microsoft\netframework"

Right-click BreadCrumbStore and click Properties.

Select the "Security" tab.

Click Advanced.

Maximize the window and post a screenshot.

Here it is, although please note that under Owner it previous was my username. I changed it System while attempting to Troubleshoot - neither worked.

Change ownership of the folder to "Administrator".

Close the dialog and reopen it.

Add "Administrators" to the list and assign Full Control.

Thanks for the reply, by way of an update I've pretty much given up. I realised that Microsoft Store was deleted from this PC a while ago and I think that is the underlying cause of this issue.

After spending many hours going down the rabbit hole of trying to reinstall MS Store and repeatedly getting a host of various errors I've just decided to do a full reset of the PC.

Appreciate you taking the time to look into this though!
