Cannot enter Savemode - PIN not working (cannot enter any)

Hi

I can normal login into windows 11 with no issues

But when i try to enter Safe mode , Windows says, something is wrong with the pin and I cannot enter any.

Just can click to make a new PIN, but this also does not work. Windows wants after 2 tries to load an app from the app store instead of defining a new PIN .....

SO STRANGE

Then I cannot leave this circuit on a normal way. Need to power off.

Normal Windows Start and logon works without problems. Safe Mode not possible.

Deleted the NGC direcory - got new PIN => same issue in safe mode again .

    Hello

    Thank you for your time.

Currently I tried the DISM command

It hangs at 62,3 % since 15 minutes

    Is this normal?

    Kind regards

    Hannes

    Hi hangrun,

    Thank you for your reply.

I've tested Windows multiple times on multiple devices, both Windows 10 and Windows 11, and we can reliably go into safe mode and perform fixes to the system in that mode, So I don't think this is a Bug (because not all Windows security modes fail), but your system may have a problem that needs to be fixed.

I'm going to walk you through some of the fixes from simple to difficult.

First, the simplest solution, try to repair the system using the SFC repair command. Please run the Command Prompt as an administrator ("Win" logo key + "Q", enter "cmd", select "Run as administrator"), and enter the following commands one by one.).

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    sfc /scannow

When you see that the fix is complete, restart your computer and confirm that the problem still exists.

If the repair command does not resolve this issue, I recommend that you follow the steps in the following link to try to perform a "lossless repair" (in-place upgrade) on your system:

How to run In-place upgrade in Windows 11

Disclaimer: Please back up all your important data before performing it.

This is the solution I recommend because it has the least impact on the data in the device.

However, if the in-place upgrade doesn't work either, maybe I have to suggest that you try to reset your system by going to the Start menu -- Setup -- System -- Restore -- Initialize this computer. This is a more thorough method, but I still need to remind you to back up your data first to prevent loss.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I deactivated Hello required first for Microsoft accounts and deleted the PIN Login Option.

This solved the issue with the PIN Then it's possible to enter password for my Microsoft User

BUT IT DOES NOT accept it. Windows says, it's wrong. But it's not . (?????!!!!)

I then created a new local user

I can login. With that user

But windows is so buggy It constantly crashes than in safe mode.

I have a brand new (right from out the out of the box LG Gram Notebook)

There is no possible logout and restart function in safe mode

    I needed.to shutdown from CMD

So ok. I can enter safe mode. But cannot do anything then

Does anybody TEST current Windows ?????

    Do you have any ideas?

    Hello

According your picture: No. I cannot enter anything. There is just a text information that something is wrong with the PIN an a link to change the PIN which doesn't work.

I did in normal mode the reset of the pin and assigning a new pin 2 times without success for safe mode .

    Thank you for helping

    Hangrun

    Hello hangrun,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

According to your description, this problem only occurs in safe mode, right? Can you see the following content on the login page in safe mode?

    Image

If you are able to see this option, you will also be able to log in to the system in other ways, such as using your account password. I would like to know if this is just a problem with the Pin or if you can't even use the account password to enter the secure mode at this time.

If only the Pin is unavailable at this time, but the account password can be used to log in to the system, my first suggestion is to exit the safe mode and log in to the system normally. In the login option, delete the Pin code, and then reset a new Pin code.

My second suggestion is to test if other accounts have the same problem. Follow the instructions linked below to create a new local administrator account, then use that account to log into the system normally, create a Pin, and then try logging in in safe mode:

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows

If at this point you find that there is no problem with your new local administrator account and you can successfully log in with the Pin code in safe mode, then the problem should be with the account, perhaps there is something wrong with the account profile you used at the beginning.

If you find that the Pin of your new local administrator account is also unavailable in safe mode, there may be a fault in the system that needs to be fixed.

Please carry out the test according to my suggestion and let me know the result. Looking forward to your reply.
