App removal with PowerShell !

Most apps you can right click and uninstall using Windows 10. The Photo app and Windows media player you seem to need PowerShell! Is there a reason for this ? (maybe a silly question). I removed the Windows photo app yesterday (using PowerShell). I have been having problems with this app and tried most things "Reset and Repair" etc. I installed again from the "Store" but it hasn't cured the problem! When I use the app it doesn't seem to work first time. It either "locks up or I can't save". I go back in again and it works perfectly strange!!

Just thought I would ask!

PS always doing maintenance, health scans and scannow before you ask!

Good morning Dave, thanks for that but it is something I do regularly! The first time I use the Troubleshooter more often than not it says "unresponsive apps" not fixed. If I check again after a couple of minutes it says "no problems found" ! The Photo app works fine but not the first time of using! I normally drag a PowerPoint presentation I have created into it. I add some special effects and then save. On most occasions it either locks up while adding the effects or the blue bar stops moving across when saving! I then have to start from scratch and then it works fine! It has done this for a long time now, I thought removing and putting it back may have cured it but no. I had similar problems with the Mailbox/Calendar app two years ago. I ended up doing a in place reinstall of Windows 10! It cured that and other issues so that maybe a consideration !

    Sorry, I was offline,

Open the Settings app, then go to Update and Security - Troubleshoot - Additional Troubleshooters

In there, run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

Check for any available updates on the Store

Then check if the Photos app is working correctly.

    Hi Brian,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Microsoft blocks the removal of some of the default UWP apps in windows by default because some apps are interdependent on each other and those PowerShell commands are just a workaround to uninstall and re-install them.

Open the Settings App, then go to System - About, what is the Version No. and Build No. of your Windows 10?
