Optional feature not installing

My PC is having issue installing an optional feature, more specifically Japanese Supplemental Fonts. My device is an Intel NUC and before I formatted this PC, it did not have any problem installing any optional feature. Post-reset, however, the progress bar would not move beyond 75% and would just be still until PC is shut down. Closing the window and restarting does not do anything, and shutting down the PC while installing the optional feature would prompt the update screen but would also be stuck at 30% until forcibly restarted. I have also tried different fixes from the internet but would not fix my issue.

Is there anyone who knows how to fix the issue? Thanks in advance.

Jake,

If switching to another internet connection source doesn't help, try this:

Download Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Fonts-Jpan-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~.cab from my OneDrive temporary download link.

  1. Save the file to a folder named C:\FOD\
  2. From admin Command Prompt, run: dism /online /add-package /packagepath:"C:\FOD\Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Fonts-Jpan-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~.cab"

and

Dism /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:"Language.Fonts.Jpan~~~und-JPAN~0.0.1.0"
  1. Press Enter.

    This one did the trick on my end. Thank you so much!

    Websites are now properly showing Meiryo.

    Hello.

    Much like the previous processes, the operation freezes halfway and has no indications of progress. Operation stays on this screen (see screenshot).

    Here is the log for reference. Please advise, thank you.

    Hi Jake,

    Ensure the Windows Update and the BITS services can start correctly.

    From admin PowerShell, run:

    • Add-WindowsCapability -online -name Language.Fonts.Jpan~~~und-JPAN~0.0.1.0

    Post back what it reports.

    If that doesn't help, please share your CBS logs on OneDrive.

    CBS logs: c:\windows\logs\cbs\                   <= Zip and upload all files in this folder.
