Anybody can pose as Microsoft (or Amazon or Walmart, etc.) and make a charge to your credit card. It's not hard if you know how (and have no scruples.)

Add to this the unfortunate reality that your and my and almost everyone else's personal information is available on the internet, thanks to the many data breaches that have occurred (and will continue to occur.)

So while it's certainly possible that Microsoft actually did charge your account incorrectly, it's more likely that you are seeing the work of a criminal who's trying to steal from you.

When you see this - from Microsoft or from anyone else - the very first step you must take, and ASAP, is to tell your card issuer about it. The card issuer can cancel the charge, run an investigation on your behalf, and (probably) issue you a new credit account.

You must cut-off the criminal's access to your account first. Then you can try to find out from Microsoft or whomever else if the charge was real and what it's about. If you do things the other way around, the criminal will continue to have access to your account. Don't give them that opportunity.

Billing charge of $160.50 from MSFT E0800LKFMU every December Unknown why we have this charge

Hello my name is Don and I have experienced this type of problem. Best thing to do is call your Credit Card company and speak to them directly. They can tell you more about that charge than Microsoft can do. If I were you I would sign into your MS account and then at the top select "Payment and Billing". In the drop down menu select "Payment Options" and remove any and all Credit Cards including any other payment options you may have saved. You may also want to tell your Credit Card company to stop payment on that charge and block any and all charges from Microsoft / MS from now on. If you want to be really safe you can always opt for a new credit card which they will provide as part of their service.

This is a constant problem of many users getting an unauthorized charge from MSFT on credit /debit cards. Just do a search of MSBILL.INFO in the Community and you will see all the other posts about these charges on users cards like here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/search/search?SearchTerm=MSFT%20*%20MSBILL.INFO%20%20&tab=&status=all&advFil=&IsSuggestedTerm=false&isFilterExpanded=undefined&CurrentScope.ForumName=all&CurrentScope.Filter=&ContentTypeScope=QnA,Discussion,Article,MicrosoftSupport&page=1&sort=Relevance&dir=Desc  . Mine was from as MSFT * MSBILL.INFO IE and it originated from Ireland MS office. The first time was for .99 cents and the second this past November was for $6.99 and these charges each time on the 27th of each two months. Each time we called our bank and the bank stopped payment and we got a new debit card. My wife and I have it set up through our bank to send us an alert every time one of our bank debit cards are charged and that is how we caught it plus we check our bank account every day as well. I have instructed our bank to block any and all charges from now on from Microsoft/MSFT * MSBILL . I think what is going on is that MS is trying to charge me a single Microsoft 365 office which I never ever asked for nor anything else from MS. what my wife and I have is Office Home and Student 2019. I do recall I had to re-install my Office twice several months ago and when I re-installed it from my account it also installed that worthless file eater OneDrive with it which I had to unlink my account from it and uninstall it before it swallowed any filles. The only things I should have gotten when I re-download Office 2019 was Word, Excell, Powerpoint, and OneNote so I think MS screwed up and thought it was 365. They seem to be hell bent of getting users locked in with 365.

Now what you can try and do is sign in to your Microsoft Account and after signing in go to this site https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact and in the box I would type "unauthorized MSFT charge on Credit Card." then click the help box. You should get a "case number" in your email that you have for your MS account. Once you get your case number email then reply to it explaining what is going on. Now mind you that you will probably not get to speak to anyone or probably even get a reply back. What I have gotten so far back from MS is a an email titled

"Please tell us about your recent Microsoft support experience"

    and it also stated

"Thank you for using Microsoft products and services, we appreciate your business. This email is to confirm that your support case has been closed, the details of the service request case are as follows:"

Then it wanted me to select one out of three choices for a rating. I emailed them back at support including my case # and told them that I could not properly select a choice because I had never been contacted that my problem had been resolved and I still have never heard anything but it was resolved and I never received another charge. You need to understand that one of Microsoft's biggest problems is the lack of communication with it users. Good luck.

    Respectfully,

    Hi Gary,

Because Community is just a user to user forum, we have no account access, if you cannot find what that payment is for on your Microsoft Account, the best option would be to contact Microsoft Store Support directly to find what that payment is for.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

Or open a Support Request using this form:

    Hi Gary,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

That sounds like it might be a Microsoft 365 subscription for Office, did you ever subscribe to that?

Log into your Microsoft account online on this link: https://account.microsoft.com/account

At the top, click 'Services and Subscriptions' do you see any subscription on your account there that would cause that billing charge?

If not, at the to, click Payments and Billing, can you see what the payment is for there?
