Unfortunatly it's not a "fix"... it's a work around for a simple bug that Microsoft should address.
Screenshot / Snipping Tool Washed Out - Windows 10 22H2
Since the 22H2 Feature Update when I do a screenshot (PrtScn key) or use Snipping Tool it's really washed out and hard to read. Black text is grey. Oranges turn yellow and are missing bits.
The old version used to take proper bitmaps (i.e. pixel for pixel was the exact same).
However, I suspect screenshot functionality is now using Snip Tool logic and it's using a compressed image (PNG/JPG), because both methods produce the same result.
I have tried disabling the blurry app fix (as this was suggested) - to no avail.
Is there any way to go back to the old version of screenshot?

2024-01-25T14:13:14+00:00 Yeah, I want to have HDR enabled _and_ be able to take screenshots. Why is this so hard for MS to get right? If I were working on Snipping Tool, I wouldn't have made that kind of error.

2023-10-11T21:38:30+00:00 I found, that for my system, I needed to turn off the HDR Settings for my monitor - that was all it took.

2024-07-04T05:43:47+00:00 For those still reading (7/4/2024) it looks like MS did update their latest Snipping Tool (11.2405.32.0). There is now a setting in Snipping Tool called "HDR screenshot color corrector" which you can just simply turn on. I guess its default is set to off. I turned it on my and my high quality screenshots are back!

2024-02-22T00:13:09+00:00 Hello anyone reading this,
I just found an older version of the snipping tool online, and it displays HDR photos perfectly, it's called the windows 10 version 1803 snipping tool. I got it from a forum on Old snipping tool | Windows 11 Forum (elevenforum.com), it seems windows 11 behaves abnormally with screenshots and its unlikely Microsoft will fix the issue anytime soon with the current snipping tool, so give this a try if you can.
Hope this helps anyone who may need it.
