Hello all! I decided to full factory reset my PC today and it didn't end as planned. I saved a few personal files, but ultimately wanted a clean slate. When I log into my username (which is still there for some reason) it tells me the user isn't found. I tried to troubleshoot with the internet but I cant find anything for windows 10. (probably a user error tbh) Restarting my PC and etc. I even reset it again, but it's telling me I need to manual install windows now, with my corrupted user profile still displayed. Anyone seen this before? Also, if windows is actually have issues downloading from the internet....where can I get the needed copy of windows? Thank you, and apologies if my questions are painfully obvious in the tech community.

Factory recovery image from...which manufacturer? CPU? Mother board? Windows OS? Please be more specific in your details. I wouldn't even know where to search for this, nor how to change bios settings to boot from a flash drive.

Sounds like you didn't use the factory reset option. The Windows reset option only resets the device to a clean copy of the current OS.

Suggest you download a factory recovery image from the manufacturer, create a new USB drive and boot from it (a bios settings change might be needed).

Refer to their instructions for your particular model.

Ugh if its not one thing its another. I tried to boot with my media and from my media but the pc isnt accepting that anything is on it, at least in the boot order. Maybe it has to do with the corrupted profile? I reset again to no change. My PC will accept that there is a usb plugged in, but it doesnt care about what is on it. Like its not actually reading it. Is there a way to get past my profile sign in option? Safe mode just loads for like 1 hour then gives me a white screen.

    Hi Adam,

My name is Merlina, I am a user like yourself. I'm Sorry to know that you're having this issue. I apologize for the inconvenience. I'll do my best to help you.

If your system is corrupted and Reset doesn't work anymore, you may need to perform a Clean Installation of Windows.

You just need to download the media creation tool in an empty USB with at least 8 GB of space. You need a working PC here to download.

    Link here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

watch the video guide here, refer to step 2: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

after downloading, Insert the installation media into your affected device and boot from the installation media.

Proceed with the installation. Watch the video guide here, refer to step 3: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Let me know if you have further questions, thank you.

I forgot to mention! When I boot in safe mode I just get a white screen. A cursor, and that's it
