Brightness increase/decrease buttons not working in Windows 11

When trying to increase or decrease my brightness, I normally hit F6 to decrease or F7 to increase. However, this feature has stopped working. The brightness slider at the bottom pops up when I click F6/7. However, it can only be decreased by one length when I click F6, which is what is supposed to happen when you click F6 once, but even when I press it multiple times/hold it down it does not decrease any further. When I click F7, the brightness slider length does not change at all, unless I have clicked F6 before.

More importantly, the actual brightness of the screen does not change at all whatsoever, no matter what I click. The slider bar resets to the original length after it disappears.

Does anyone have any fixes? I have restarted my laptop and tried turning on/off the fn lock, but to no avail.

Watch the video below to see what I mean. In it, I have clicked F6 and F7 multiple times but the length does not change by more than 1 value, and the brightness of my screen does not change at all (although you cannot see this part):

Edit: The situation has worsened! (or at least has not gotten any better.) Now when I click F6/7 the slider bar does not decrease/increase at all now, not even by one length: the slider pops up and does not change in any length. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is a new version (2.18.0) of Bios released on 10 Apr 2023 on Dell Website. You can download the latest version of Bios at this link.

And there is a new version (31.0.101.4369) of the graphics driver released on 16 May 2023 on the Intel website. You can use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant at this link to install the latest version of the graphics driver.

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support...

Downloading and installing these updates should fix the problem.

Thanks for the reply, and I am glad to say that your fix worked! The first solution did not work, saying there was some system ID error or something, but it doesn't matter as the second one did. After running the Assistant, downloading the driver updates and restarting, my brightness control has been restored! Thanks for the help :D

    Hi, Elektronyx97,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

Usually, the brightness issue is related to the version of the graphics driver. Please provide some more details to help to identify what is causing the problem. Which is the full model of your laptop? Does this problem start recently?

Also, attach a screenshot of the System Information Page:

1-Right-click on Start then click on Run

2-Type: msinfo32 and click on Ok

And a screenshot of the version of the driver installed:

1-Right-click on Start then click on Device Manager

2-Click to expand the Display adapters

3-Right-click on the graphics driver and click on properties

4-Take a screenshot of the General and Driver tab
