Good evening,
I had a problem where when I was safely ejecting my USB drive, it showed me that the drive was in use and I had to close all the programs which are there in the drive running. No programs were running from the drive. I also tried to look in Task Manager but I couldn't find any tasks which were running. I tried to eject the drive from the disk manager too but it didn't work. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hi, and thanks for reaching out. I am Zainab, an Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I understand how important it is for you to resolve this issue. Nothing to worry I will do my best to help you out. There might be a background process or application using the files stored on the USB causing the error. Kindly follow the steps below to fix the issue.

    Method 1: Restart the computer

If you have confirmed that all files and programs have been closed, you can restart your computer and try again.

Method 2: Run Windows Hardware and Device Troubleshooter

Open Windows settings > Update and security > Troubleshoot > choose Hardware and Devices, then click "Run the troubleshooter".

Your computer will start to scan your computer and install drivers and updates. After the process is finished, click "Apply this fix" to restart your computer.
