Based on the information you provided, it seems that the issue persists even after restarting the HID and that stopping the service is the only way to temporarily stop Microsoft Edge from opening.
I suggest that you try running the Keyboard Troubleshooter by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. This will help identify and resolve any issues related to the keyboard.
Additionally, you can try uninstalling the keyboard driver in Device Manager. To do this, right-click the Start button and choose Keyboard, then go to the Driver tab, and select Uninstall. Once done, please restart your PC using your mouse.
