Hello,

I have been having problems with Win 11 Pro not going into Sleep for the last 6 months.
After many, many Sfc, Dism, clean boots and reinstallations nothing changed.
The only thing I noticed is the BITS problem I have seen in many posts.
All the solutions I was able to find, well, I tried and nothing worked.
This is the result of the troubleshooting:

I scanned for Malware and Viruses with Norton, Eset, Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, Avast, and many Ad malware removal and nothing was found.
I am at a dead end.

Can anyone suggest something?
Thanks

M

    Appreciate the screenshot.

Please uninstall Dell Power utility if you have not yet.

Second, Please open the Windows Recovery environment using the steps below:

Open Settings App by pressing Win+I keys.

    Navigate to System> Recovery menu.

Click Restart now button, besides Advanced Startup.

Select UEFI Firmware Settings from the screen that shows up and the computer will reboot.

In BIOS, is there a sleep state option? If so, what is it set to?

    This is it!
I forgot to mention that when ther is a Cumulative update from Windows
everything (ususally) starts to work ok!
Then at some point it breaks again.
    Thank you!

Thanks M for the details. Let us sort this out.

    Right-click Start>Run.

Type in msinfo32 and press enter.

Take a screenshot of the System Summary window and post it in the next reply.

I tried ALL the powercfg commands and solutions.
I removed, recreated, "redefaulted" all the powerplans, so many times it became a rountine now.
Computer does not go to sleep.
It does go to sleep correctly only when I start the computer and I am logged out of my profile.
So it must be something with my profile, some profle app/program.
I clean booted it so many times, prevented all programs and services from starting up and nothing.
Occasionally it works fine. So I backup up images when it is working.
Then something happens in the background, like "possibly" an update and it breaks again.
    So frustrating.....

    Thanks,

    M

    Hi Maria,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

BITS is fine - by design, it is always running.

What exactly happens when you try to put it to sleep? Does it wake instantly?

Have you tried to find the last wake source?

    In the Windows search,

type cmd, right-click it, and choose run as administrator.

    Execute:

    powercfg -lastwake

To find the last wake device/action.

    and

    powercfg -waketimers

To find any programs have set wake timers that will force your PC to wake up at a certain time.

Do send us the results of both for further help.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.
