  1. Should a person set up a password in the BIOS of a computer?
  2. If so would I have to be signing in through the BIOS area whenever I boot up the computer each day?
  3. Would it keep any hackers from getting through the computer through a backdoor method? Kenneth

If your display adapter is from Intel, it is acceptable to download the driver from the Intel website. In this case, Intel is the device manufacturer.

When I say not to download drivers from third-party sources, I'm referring to downloading the Intel driver from a site called "Drivers Database", for example.

    So, here are other examples:

If your device is from Dell and has an Intel display adapter. It is safe to download the driver from the Dell or Intel website.

If your device is from Asus and has a Realtek Wi-Fi adapter, it is safe to download the driver from Asus or Realtek website.

Isn't Intel suppose to be a reputable device driver manufacturer? I was given what was supposed to be a direct link to intel from someone in this community.

A While after several updates my screen would go black. It was a rolling action from the top of the screen down to the bottom.

Who do I believe anymore? I did a reinstall and I did it myself with some great advice from an expert technician on here.

    P.S.

Of course, I cannot prove it however what I do know the Black Screen affair started after the above.

Yes. Drivers can bring malware to your system.

Therefore, I suggest you only install drivers downloaded from the device manufacturer's website or using the Windows Update. Do not install drivers provided by third-party sources.

Good to hear about that.I thought if I had to be signing in BIOS every time I boot would be a major hassle.

    Question:

If I gave permission to someone from a company that provides software driver updates for the Windows 11 system could he/she make a Back Door or anything else for a later entry?

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    1. Particularly, I see no reason for an ordinary user to set a password in the BIOS. Even if the computer is lost or stolen, simply removing the CMOS battery and replacing it will remove the password.
    2. Yes. You will have to enter the BIOS password each time you boot the computer.
    3. No. Hackers can gain access to the system using backdoors opened by malware installed on Windows. So the BIOS password wouldn't help at all in this situation.

Feel free to ask back any questions.
