Windows 11 does not remember the window size, width, height, columns that should be displayed inside etc.

When opening a folder's window, I always enlarge it, make sure all the columns appear inside, the date and time, file size and file type, etc.

However, each time I open the same window again, it seems that Windows 11 completely forgets all the previous display settings (not whether I would like it to be displayed as a detailed list, icons etc. - this is still remembered, but the columns I would like to be presented in the window, the width and height of the window, etc. - all these are somewhat forgotten and the system always opens the windows using the same generic settings, without taking notice of my preferences.

Is there a way to "ask" Windows 11 to remember the windows size, the distance between the columns inside the window, etc.?

I.e., to record my preferences regarding each window I open and and apply them to that same window whenever I open it again?

Thanks in advance,

Eldad

    Thanks.

Well, at least something good came out of my query - I don't have to continue looking for a solution, in vain.

There is none, for the time being.

    Thanks, Dave.

    Hi Eldad,

File Explorer not remembering the location and size of the window is a bug reported by many people, that functionality should work, the best option would be to report this bug on the Feedback Hub, so the developers can resolve this and put out a patch.

File Explorer saving the sizes of the columns has never been implemented in File Explorer it would be good to suggest that to them on the Feedback Hub too.

    Thank you, Dave.
I tried it (pressing Ctrl and closing the window) but to no avail.

When I reopen the window, it opens just as before.

So, from your reply I take it Windows cannot "remember" the exact parameters of the window as opened before. I was trying in vain to find a solution for this problem.

    Hi Eldad,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

While you can get File Explorer to remember the columns you have setup in folders, there is no setting in File Explorer to set the preferred width of the columns, they will always reset every time you open a folder.

File Explorer should remember the size of the File Explorer window after you close it, but many people indicate that functionality does not work, try resizing the File Explorer window as big as you need it to be, without being completely maximized, then press Ctrl and close the window, then open File Explorer again, does it maintain the size of the window?
