New content appearing in wrong documents folder

I went into "Settings" in Windows 11 and changed the location of new documents from the C drive to the D drive (which has much more space). Since then, I have downloaded a couple of apps and noticed that new folders were created in the documents folder in the C -- and not D -- drive. For example, a Zoom folder was created in the documents folder in C. I do understand that I can go into the settings for those apps and change where data are stored, but I don't understand why this is not happening automatically after I made the changes in the Windows settings.

Thanks. The Location Tab should appear nonetheless. Does it appear for FIle Explorer>Onedrive>Documents folder?

I was, but realized that OneDrive was syncing with the C documents folder (and not the D documents) and so went to the OneDrive settings (under "Manage Backup") and turned off the backup. It is no longer synced with that folder.

That's odd. Are you backing up Documents to Onedrive?

    I did do 2).

I just attempted to do 1), but under "Properties," the "Location" tab is missing. The only tabs are "General," "Sharing," "Security," "Previous Versions," and "Customize,"

    Hi,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

There are two Settings which you need to change:

    1. Right-click the Documents folder and choose the Location tab, and add the path.
    2. In System>Storage>Where new content is saved.

Did you change the same on both?

    Keep us posted.
