I purchased a machine with pre-installed Windows 10 Pro (OEM). I was forced to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro. I swapped a SSD with a bigger one and installed Windows 11. Now it says I do not have a valid licence.

I am sorry for the experience that you have had with Microsoft. However, I'm glad to hear that you were able to solve the issue by installing Linux Mint.

We would be delighted to have you back using Microsoft in the way that best suits your needs.

Have a nice day.

    Hi Lubomir,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

Since your computer came pre-installed with an OEM license, this license is tied to the motherboard and should activate Windows after hard disk replacement but make sure you have installed Pro edition.

Also, try to troubleshoot it by going to Start > Settings > System > Activation > Troubleshooter.

If you bought a device from a reseller of Windows 10 and expected the key to be valid contact the reseller.
