Overnight update changed security settings?

My computer updated overnight last night, and this morning opened to show a Bitlocker pin number requirement screen. I've never even heard of bitlocker before, and wasn't sure why it wouldn't let me past without finding my pin. Afterwards it took me to my home log in page, but tells me that my security settings have been changed and that my pin no longer works, and I have to set a new pin. I can't set a new pin without internet, which I can't access without a User ID that I have no idea what it could be. What happened to my computer and how do I get it back to normal?

    Hi LoganR469,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

From what you've described, it looks like you had a BIOS update installed on your computer last night.

Often BIOS updates refresh the computer's security Settings, which causes the TPM to recognize hardware changes to enable encryption (encryption here includes Bitlocker and PIN).

This is often a tricky problem, but here are some other things we can try before trying radical steps:

    1. If you are currently able to access the login page, it is recommended that you try to connect to the network by clicking on the network icon in the lower right corner, and then click on "Login Options" to see if you can log in using your Microsoft account and password.
    2. In addition, please hold down the Shift key on the keyboard and click the power icon on the login page to restart the computer. After the restart, release the button and the computer will restart and enter the recovery mode.
    3. Please select Troubleshooter - Uninstall Update in Recovery mode to see if you can see the update installed last night and uninstall it.

*Since the PIN code must be changed or removed in the Settings flush after entering the desktop, that's all we can do on the login page for now.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
