How to remove double spaced lines in word

I have Windows 11.

I'm racking my brains out to figure this out because I have a ton of 100 pg documents like this and I need to get rid of the double space between each number to consolidate the documents. I've tried Find and Replace but maybe I'm not inserting the right things. Pleaseee help. Thank you.

    Hi Msn_user99,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

Editing and removing these spaces depends on how you typed the text.

If these A,B,C.. have been added automatically, click on "View" > Check the "Ruler" box > Then go back to your text and click on the "investment" or "Divestment" and set the curser before the investment > Change the arrow from the ruler above and remove the space.

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.

If the extra space was created by hitting Enter 2 or 3 times, then you could try:

    Find what: ^p^p^p

    Replace with: ^p^p

    Or

    Find what: ^p^p

    Replace with: ^p

If the extra space was created via paragraph spacing, then you must select the affected paragraphs (or the entire document). You can use press Ctrl-A to select all. Then Right-Click, select Paragraph, adjust the "Before" and "After" spacing (e.g. enter 0 in both fields) and then click OK.

Actually strangely what worked was ^p in Find and nothing in replace. The reason was because each question was actually a "table" and not text. Still, there were 2 line spaces between each question. Strange but it worked and I'm super happy.

Not strange at all if you consider that any amount of additional space can be added before or after a paragraph and that can be set as a template. So, each of those single paragraphs just included some extra space and that's exactly how a word processor should be used. It's just that most people put in unnecessary additional hard returns to increase spacing and I assumed (incorrectly in this case) that you must have multiple hard returns between each item.
