The error message "X program has encountered a problem and needs to close. Info: appcompat.txt" indicates that the program has crashed due to compatibility issues. "appcompat.txt" is a file generated by Windows to record information about the compatibility of the program with the operating system. The file may contain details about the reason for the crash, which can be helpful in troubleshooting the issue. To fix the problem, you can try updating the program or the operating system, reinstalling the program, or running the program in compatibility mode.

But as you can see you almost did the troubleshootig procedure above There is a higher chance that game may simply not be compatible with modern operating systems, if it's ok may I know what is the exact game you want to play?

If you're receiving an error message while running the game in a virtual machine, here are some additional steps you can try:

Install the game in the virtual machine: If you haven't already, try installing the game directly within the virtual machine, rather than trying to run the game from a physical CD on the host machine.

Update the game: Check if there are any updates or patches available for the game. These updates may resolve compatibility issues with modern operating systems.

Update virtual machine drivers: Make sure the virtual machine has the latest drivers installed, particularly video and sound drivers. You can do this through the virtual machine's device manager.

Try different virtual machine settings: Experiment with different virtual machine settings, such as changing the amount of memory or CPU allocated to the virtual machine.

Try a different virtual machine: If the issue persists, consider trying a different virtual machine application. For example, if you're using VirtualBox, try using VMware or Hyper-V.

Check the game's requirements: Make sure the virtual machine has the minimum system requirements to run the game.

If none of these steps help, the game may simply not be compatible with modern operating systems, even when run in a virtual machine.

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

It depends on the program and how it's optimized and designed, if it's inherently backwards compatible, etc. There's a few specific reasons why older games won't run automatically on Windows 10, even in compatibility mode: 64-bit Windows 10 no longer supports 16-bit applications.

Click the link below and try do the procedure
