taskbar "live" thumbnail preview not playing

I recently restored my desktop. After the restore, my taskbar thumbnail preview stopped showing a """live"""" picture(video) of what an application was doing, instead, it shows a still photo. I did notice that if the application wasn't minimized and I hovered over the thumbnail of that application, the thumbnail preview was showing the "live" picture and not a still photo. For example, if a video was playing on a browser then when the browser was not minimized and my mouse was on the thumbnail preview. In the preview, the video would also be playing but if the application was minimized then the preview would be a still photo

    Hi,

    R. Cord here, Independent Expert. Hope you are doing well.

This is likely a feature of the Aero Peek function in Windows. You can try disabling and re-enabling Aero Peek to see if this resolves the issue. To do this:

    right-click on the taskbar,

    select "Taskbar Settings,"

scroll down to the "Combine taskbar buttons" option,

and toggle the "Use Peek to preview the desktop"

    switch off and on again.

    Additional troubleshooting steps:

Check if your graphics card driver is up-to-date. Go to the manufacturer's website and look for the latest driver available for your specific graphics card model.

Check if any recent Windows updates may have caused the issue. If so, try to roll back the updates to a previous version.

Run the System File Checker (SFC) tool to scan for and repair any corrupted system files. To do this, open a command prompt as an administrator and type "sfc /scannow" and press enter.

Check if any third-party software or antivirus programs may be interfering with the taskbar thumbnail preview. Try temporarily disabling any such programs to see if this resolves the issue. If the issue only occurs with a specific application, try uninstalling and reinstalling that application to see if it resolves the issue.

Hopefully, one of these troubleshooting steps will help you resolve the issue with the taskbar thumbnail preview.

    With best Regards
