BitLocker Key recovery loop

After resetting my computer, my computer entered a bitlocker recovery loop. Pressing escape and F11 do not take me to an alternative screen to escape the loop. The bitlocker recovery screen is not accepting my bitlocker key. How can I continue resetting my computer? I wanted to wipe all information on the drive, so I’m not concerned about retrieving the information that is encrypted.

    Hi Millie,

My name is Cindy. I am sorry you are having this problem. I know it is really frustrating. I will do my best to help you with this problem.

Please note: This is a user-to-user community forum. We are users just like you who help others. We are not employees of Microsoft.

The only way to bypass the Bitlocker key is to completely reinstall Windows. It is possible you may have a different Bitlocker code. It is possible to check the key on your Microsoft account.

Here are the instructions on how to check the Bitlocker in your account.

Please go to Microsoft.com and sign on to your account.

Then click on My Microsoft Account

Click on view details for the computer with the problem.

Then click on the Manager Recovery Keys.

You should see the key for your computer.

It is possible to copy and paste the code.

If you are not able to find the current Bitlocker key, it is possible to clean-install Windows. I have enclosed the instructions below. You will lose all the data on your computer with this option.

I have enclosed a link below where you can download the clean version of Windows 11.

You will need a formatted, empty USB Drive with at least 10 GB of space.

Click on Create a Windows 11 installation media. Then follow the prompts.

There are pointers at the bottom of the page.

Please let me know if you have questions or problems as I am here to help.

    Best Wishes,

    Cindy
