Can someone help me fix this error?

I'm on a HP 255 G8 Notebook PC. For the last few days, the screen almost completely freezes, accept at the top, you can still move the mouse pointer at that top area. then all of the screen turns to white, and i have to restart the laptop to fix it. I went into Event viewer, and it bought up this error:

    Hi THETEALPHOENIX,
This is Tamal trying to help you with the issue.
The problem could be arising from the hardware, either the gpu /better say igpu malfunctioning or the lcd itself. You may restart the gpu driver by pressing windows +ctrl+Shift +B when the screen turns white when it runs internal display. If you can please connect an external monitor /display device with the PC & run only the external display for sometime (windows +P) projection menu & observe for the issue to appear. If it happens with internal screen only then LCD faulty, if happens with both then may be driver issue as well. If you face different issue with the external screen/tv/monitor etc then it's faulty gpu/dry solder or it's memory. In case of hardware issue please get in touch with hp for warranty assistance if the device is still under cover.
