"No Qt platform plugin"-Error when opening application

Hi there,

Since a little while ago my Windows-application "Logi Options plus" doesn't work anymore, when I try to open the application it throws the following Error: (see screenshot)

Error: "logioptionsplus_agent. This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. Available platform plugins are: direct2d, minimal, offscreen, windows."

  • I've tried re-installing "Logi Options plus" a few times, but that didn't resolve the Error.
  • Also, I've installed the "Qt"-application (from qt.io, latest version & "5.14.2.0") but that didn't do anything either.
  • The same application works fine on my other Windows PC, so I think some corrupt/missing Windows file must cause the problem.
  • Windows 11-version: "22H2"

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out!

Hi, my name is Anderson Souza, I hope I can help you with your issue.

Do you use any third-party antivirus solutions on this PC? If so, try pausing the tool for a while and check if you can open the application.

If the error started to occur a little while ago, it may also be that there is a restore point capable of solving the problem for you.

This option takes your PC back to an earlier point in time, called a system restore point. Restore points are generated when you install a new app or driver, and when you create a restore point manually. Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

Check the steps in the corresponding topic on the link below:

Thank you so much! The restore point feature did the trick! Thank you!

Have spent hours trying to figure out how to deal with this problem, reading on forums, etc. Starting from where you left off, I went to Webroot to see if that might be the problem and see if I could pause it to test as you suggest - no such luck, cannot find out how to pause it. Here's what I have:

    1. Have an installed version of Calibre, which will not open and gives missing QT plugin platform error. Windows11 on Samsung laptop.
    2. Downloaded latest version 6.15 and attempted to install, get different error suggesting check with vendor to see if really a Windows Installer package.
    3. Read forum in Mobilereads with old thread (about 10 years ago, way older version of Windows), followed instructions to check permissions in Properties, Security - I have Full COntrol (it is my laptop after all).
    4. Ran SFC tool, problem still there.

Totally stuck at this point - I don't understand most of what's been suggested, although the first youtube video you provided a link to was clear - it's just I don't know if I should do that, and I don't know what system restore might do that would mess up everything else. So would appreciate clearer picture of what might have caused this and which step to do first and how. Thanks in advance.
