Cannot edit Permissions, grayed out

I am the only ever owner or user of my computer, but I cannot download to my C: Program Files folder because I am not the admin whatever that means. I tried to edit permissions for the folder (there are several users for whatever reason and I figured I would give all permissions to all of them) but when I click edit all of the checkboxes are grayed out. So I cannot edit them. I am the sole user of this computer. How can this be resolved?

    Hi Am,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

By design you cannot write on your own in Program Files. This is by design. However, this is not true for Programs.

What exactly happens when you try to install a program?

    I wait for your response.
