Why does my PC update before scheduled update?

I got a notification my computer needed to be updated.

I had to use the computer continuously.

So I scheduled the update.

Many hours from then on.

I took a break from using the computer.

Shut it down and charged it.

When I came back to the computer, turned it on, that exact update (which was estimated it would take four minutes and it was about that time it took) and black screen and no way to cancel it.

The update notification had disappeared (update reminder was all the time on, even after scheduling).

And when I went to "update-tab" in settings, my computer was updated.

What can I do to prevent this?

This is really irritating.

Losing control over something your operation system offers you to control and then it "betrays you" about having that control is bizarre in the age of AI and advanced smart devices...

Hi Baldur. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

    1. All ways to control Windows Updates in Windows 11 are here:

    https://windows.do/taming-and-controlling-windo...

    https://www.theverge.com/23027235/windows-11-pa...

    1. If you need to stop pending updates on an emergency basis here's how to remove downloaded updates before they install and the block Updates temporarily:

    https://pureinfotech.com/disable-automatic-upda...

    1. If you want to report this to Microsoft you may be able to help improve this product/experience by using the Feedback Hub in Start Menu, especially if you are willing to share logs and other requested information.

While they will probably not see this here in the forums, Microsoft developers DO read feedback from customers that comes in via the Feedback Hub, so that is a great way to share your thoughts on how to better serve you as a customer.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.
