Add a trusted device to Microsoft Account Windows 10

I run Windows 10 on a Dell PC and a Microsoft Surface Book. I want to add the Microsoft Surface Book as a trusted device. Here are the instructions I found:

Add a trusted device to your Microsoft account

On the device you want to trust, go to the Security settings page

[and sign in to your Microsoft account

You'll be prompted to verify your identity. ...

Select the check box for Don't ask me again on this device.

Select Verify.]

I can't follow the bracketed [] instructions above because I don't know what it means to sign on to my Mircrosoft Account. Am I not signed in?

However, I went ahead and examined the Privacy and Security settings on the Surface Book.

Which one of these options should I choose?

Thanks for your help.
SweetTasha.

Hello! My name is Mustafa, and I am an Independent Advisor as well as a long-time Microsoft user. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I am hopeful that I will be able to help you find a satisfactory solution.

I suppose you saw this article from Microsoft on how to add a trusted device to your Microsoft account: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

And the "security settings" refers to itself. So just click on the writing, and it should take you to another page where you will be prompted to sign in (again if you are already signed in) as a security measure. And then follow the other steps.

The color of the "security settings" on the website should be different from the other writings. I have it in blue maybe you also have it in blue just click on it.

You can't add a secure device from the settings> privacy & security.

Please let me know if this doesn't work or if you need further assistance.

    Warm Regards,

    Mustafa

    Mustafa,

The procedure you describe will define trusted sites.

My objective is to define a trusted device. I think you also addressed that in "And the "security settings" refers to itself..."

I aplogize for being dense, but I don't understand "click on the writing" and "then follow the other steps."

    I appreciate your help.

hello, I have attached a screenshot that shows where you have to click on, and it will take you to another website where you will be asked to sign in and also verify your identity.

So just click on the writing of security settings and follow the steps that are given in the article that I have given above, and your device will be added as a trusted device to your account.

let me know if you need further assistance.

    Mustafa,
I looked in Control Panel\System and Security\Security and Maintenance>Security and Network and Internet, but I don't see any screen with "Security Settings".

    Thanks.
