Hi - I have a similar but not exactly the same problem. Some photos that I'm importing from my phone to my laptop appear correctly but not others are giving the ’It looks like we don’t support this file type’ message he listed. All the photos are jpgs. Some were even taken in the same session, I believe.

Do you use any photo apps to open those files? If yes, please let me know which one you are using.
This issue might be due to the corrupted app. I recommend that you try fixing this app.
