My custom Scaling value has been set too high and I can no longer use the screen, the characters and symbols are much too big. How do I reset Scaling to its original or default value? I have reset Win 10 but it made no difference.

All good stuff Daniela but that was how I created the problem in the first place. I set the custom scaling at a factor that was way beyond my monitors and finished with a part of a...h... on screen, which I felt I deserved for being one. But it was a classic situation where one digs a hole so deep one can no longer climb out of it. Thanks for your reply, just the existence of a footprint in the sand gave Robinson Crusoe hope, as you gave me. Problem now solved but not easily. Phew.

Hi TerryFarmer2.
My name is Daniela, I am an independent consultant and I will be happy to help you today.
I hope you are very well.
To change the screen scale size with the recommended settings, follow these steps:
Open Settings.
Click on System.
Then click on Display.
In the "Scale and layout" section, use the drop-down menu and select the scale setting that suits your needs.
Once you complete the steps, you do not need to log out and log back in, but it is recommended to restart your computer to ensure that the new settings are applied correctly to the desktop and applications.
Have a wonderful day.
Best regards.
Daniela.
