Windows updates do not work

Hello

Your lovely updates cannot get done, and I am not able to install ANY app or any other software because of that.

Router - reloaded several times

C:$WINDOWS - removed after each attempt

c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ - cleaned/removed after each attempt

Net Framework Repair Tool - used, nothing to help

Updates get downloaded and stuck at 100%, then it says `it cannot download because the computer is not on! The laptop IS on, the network is working. Only Windows Updates are not working...

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

I would like to know the result of SFC and DISM scan.

As you’re still facing issues with installing Updates, you may want to try performing a repair installation. This will repair all the corrupted files and services on the system. You can refer the article How to perform an In-place Upgrade with Windows 10 Step-by-Step Guide by Paulsey…

Note: Please do take a backup of your data before performing the installation.

Let us know how it goes, if the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.

Regards,

    Dear Prakhar ji,

    Thanks for the reply.

I do not need those updates but they block my computer from installing new apps.

    1. The system tried to download Windows 10, version 1903.

    2.     There were no changes made to the PC prior to this, I just could not install a new app because those Windows Updates forced me to update the computer

    3.     Which update are you trying to install?

    Windows 10, version 1903.

    4.     Do you receive any error code when the update fails?

No, there is no error code, it says that my computer is turned off and hence it cannot download the updated (where reached 100% and the laptop is perfectly on) but above there is an error log.

With regards to solutions offered. please note the following:

    1) Reset Windows Update Components - done, reset, reloaded the laptop, no change. Failure to download updates again

    2) Yes, I tried to download the same version 1903 from here:

    windows10.0-kb4560960-x64_7786ad3160766ceed27566f4a051db8adf2944f6

    windows10.0-kb4567512-x64_2ea636c671529de2154d48a1181c0f02cd919da5

Both versions failed to install, it did not open saying that those updates are not applicable for my computer.

    3)  DISM Scan done. Scan now done, too.

    The problem persists...

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you’re facing issues with Windows Updates on your PC, and I certainly appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

We will certainly look into this for you.

For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below:

    1.     Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently?

    2.     Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?

    3.     Which update are you trying to install?

    4.     Do you receive any error code when the update fails?

Refer the article Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and see if that helps.
