Finally decided to 'upgrade' from win8.1 to win 10,  and i keep getting a BSOD, 99% of the time it's saying it's a kernel mode heap corruption issue.

Not sure what to do about this, i got a memory dump of the latest crash, anyone able to advise what i need to fix?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you are receiving Blue Screen of Death. We analyzed the dump file and found the faulty module is Pool_Corruption

The KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION bug check has a value of 0x0000013A. This indicates that the kernel mode heap manager has detected corruption in a heap.

In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

    • What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)
    • What is the make and model of the PC?
    • Did you overclock the CPU?
    • When do you get this blue screen error?
    • Are you aware of any changes prior to this issue?

Step 1: Run Memory Diagnostic Tool.

    1.     Press Windows key or click on Start Menu and type Memory Diagnostic.

    2.     Select Windows Memory Diagnostics and click on Restart now and check for problems.

    3.     Follow the on-screen instructions.

    Step 2: Windows Update

We would suggest you to install all the latest updates available on the PC. Press Windows + I key to open Settings > Click on Update & Security > Select Windows Update from the left pane > now click on Check for Updates. Refer Update Windows 10

Step 3: Run DISM & SFC scan

We would also suggest you to run the DISM & SFC Scan tool to check if there is any windows file corruption causing this issue, refer this article: System File Checker.

    Step 4: Safe mode

Try booting your PC in safe mode. Refer to the article on how to Start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10

Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. If a problem doesn't happen in safe mode, this means that default settings and basic device drivers aren't causing the issue. Observing Windows in safe mode enables you to narrow down the source of a problem, and can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC.

    Step 5:  Clean boot

Try booting your PC in clean boot. Refer to the article on How to perform a clean boot in Windows

**Note:**Clean Boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. Also, you may not be able to use some programs in clean boot.

If performing a clean boot fixes the issue then, please refer to the section How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot to check which program is causing the issue.

Note: Please refer the section Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting to boot the computer in to normal mode after troubleshooting.

Additionally, refer the steps as mention in this article: Troubleshoot blue screen errorsrefer**(While using my device)**

Let us know the results. If the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.
