Folder Exclusions are not working

I've previously had some folder exclusions but they've since disappeared. I have attempted to add new ones, but they don't appear. How do I go about making this work?

My page looks like the image below, after I've selected the folder and supposedly excluded it.

    Greetings Alygator,

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

Here’s the steps you can try, check if there are updates needs to be installed install in your device, the exclusion should work .

    -Press Windows Key + X

    -Click on Settings

    -Go to Updates and Security

-Check for updates and install all available updates in your device.

Once the update is installed restart your pc for the changes to take effect and check how it goes.

To know more about files exclusion and on how you can enable the files exclusion using group policy you can refer to this link below.

I hope, the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    With Warm Regards,

    Carlo T.

    Hi Carlo,

Thank you for your reply. My computer is fully updated but am still unable to add exclusions through the normal method.

Thank you for the link, I'm trying to get it to work with the powershell, but I don't know how to check if it's already included. This is what the powershell looks like:

the exclusions page in windows defender is still empty.

I'm quite a newbie with all these console instructions etc. Could you highlight if I'm typing something wrong? and how to go about checking for the exclusions through the powershell.

    Thanks in advance Carlo.
