Two Documents folders

Anonymous

I moved my documents folder onto D drive. And everything was fine. Then I did the same thing with my desktop. But now for some reason, I have two documents folders and now everything I save in my D drive also goes to the desktop and everything I save in the desktop directly goes to the D drive without any subfolders. Or if I delete something off my desktop it also disappears from D drive.

Is there a way now to make only one document folder (and for it to be on D drive) and make desktop be again on C drive?

In this case, I initially suggest that you apply the procedures below:

Method 1

To try to resolve the issue we need to access the Windows registry editor. There are two ways to do this.

The first is by Run (Windows+R) when typing regedit.exe

The second is to use Windows Search (Windows+S) and search for regedit.exe.

Inside the Windows registry editor, navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerDesktopNameSpaceDelegateFolder. Within it there will be the key {F5FB2C77-0E2F-4A16-A381-3E560C68BC83}.

Right-click on it and choose Delete.

After deleting the folder, the duplicate icons in the This computer panel will be removed automatically. If not, restart Windows Explorer or your computer. To restart Windows Explorer, open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), select it, and click Restart.

Method 2

If the problem persists, try recreating the folder index with their source by importing the syntaxes below by creating a .reg file:

  1. Press the Windows+R keys, type notepad and click Ok;
  2. Paste the syntaxes below:

  1. Click File >, name to LibraryWE.reg, and click Save (Save where you prefer);
  2. Right-click on LibraryWE.reg and select the Merge option;
  3. Give the permissions to complete the steps and restart the system.

If you prefer, you can download the file already with the syntax here and just import it into the Windows registry

    Hi,

    Should I make backups for files that I want to keep? Or everything will still be on the computer?
